Digital mastering, 1999, by Erick Labson at MCA Music Media Studios, and Jeff Willens at Universal Music Studios-East
Except for the four selections from the 1939 recording session, this compilation has been prepared by transfers to digital tape from the original Commodore acetate master discs. Of those four tracks, recorded before acetate masters were in general use, „Strange Fruit“ was the only one with a still-usable original metal part. „Yesterdays“ and „I Gotta Right to Sing the Blues“ were transferred from Commodore test pressings, and „Fine and Mellow“ from a 78 rpm shellac record provided by Steven Lasker.
