Das Trio WNU besteht seit März 2018 und kommt aus Hannover. Wilson Novitzki an der Gitarre, Nils Schumacher am E-Bass und Uli Hoffmann am Schlagzeug präsentieren bei ihren Auftritten eine aberwitzige Spielart der freien Improvisation. Die Musik, die dabei herauskommt, kennt keinerlei stilistische Berührungsängste und ist gleichzeitig große Kunst. Progressive Klangkapriolen, die zeitweise an den frühen Zappa oder Soft Machine erinnern, treffen auf explosive Free Jazz- Sequenzen die von elegischen Flächen abgelöst werden. Doch irgendwo lauert schon die nächste Noise-Attacke. Und manchmal erklingt von weiter Ferne her sogar der Blues in Form einer einsamen Mundharmonika.
