Nach einer vierjährigen Pause zwischen 2007 und 2011 ist das Quintett inzwischen als Gitarrenband und mit neuem Drummer unterwegs. 13 lange Jahre musste die Zuhörerschaft auf eine neue Platte warten, doch die Weisheit „gut Ding will Weile haben“ gilt auch hier. HAMMERHAI bietet auf „Unterm Schnellweg“ einen üppigen Facettenreichtum aus Punkrock, Ska, Reggae, HipHop, Beat und Metal, dazu schlaue Texte mit Hirn und Seele – HAMMERHAI haben es Puristen und Schubladendenkern noch nie leicht gemacht. Für die glasklare und druckvolle Produktion des Tonträgers zeichnet Gitarrist MC Timsen verantwortlich, der die Band in einem Studio unter einer Autobahnbrücke aufgenommen hat. Der charakteristische Gesang wechselt zwischen brodelnder Reibeisenstimme, angenehm schnoddriger Erzählung und kraftvollen Singalongs. Das Ganze wird stimmlich komplettiert mit schönen Backingvocals und griffigen Sprechgesangseinlagen. Egal ob zügige Ska-Punk-Klopper, frische Hybride aus Dub-Rhythmen mit fetten Gitarrenwänden, kunstvolle Metal-Miniaturen oder catchy Beatnummern – HAMMERHAI klingen kraftvoll, authentisch und dabei komplett tiefenentspannt.
